Great Results From The February Work Parties
23 February 2026Here’s some photos of our recent efforts - thanks to all 13 of you! Thanks too to Esther and Sue for photos.
For once the weather was kind on both days!
We got a great deal of coppicing done - the last shot in the bottom photo compilation is to note that the final bit of ‘haymaking’ was on 9th February - a trifle late.
The ‘wigwam’ is an experimental habitat pile - the poles are gathered around a coppice stool which will grow up through. The idea is to create a variety of different habitats usually found in old, dying timber. Upright the logs will encourage different fungi and invertebrates - we hope!
The rest of the brash has been stacked into ‘dead hedges’ next to the growing ones.
